Clean Tapers

E-mail Print

A morse taper with rust or sanding dust on the walls will adversely effect the concentricity of a lathe center.  Clean tapers periodically with a conical wire brush used by plumbers to prepare copper fittings for soldering. They are inexpensive and available at most hardware stores.  The size designed for 1/2” tubing works well on a #2 Morse taper.
